Interruption: High Rise

The objective of this thesis study is to interrupt the high rise apartment typology, departing from the regurgitation and repetition of floor plates, by transposing the horizontal urban realm into the vertical.

This process enables the occurrence of vertical neighbourhoods and programs as alternative amenities to the common gym and pool, to enrich the everyday life in the high rise.

The focus and use of staircase to travel vertically provides an opportunity for encounters and interactions to take place both for the residents and the public. This thesis aims to uncover an alternative approach to the typology engaging a more intimate scale of the high rise, invoking: stimulation, curiosity, memories, refuge, restoration, imagination.
